Florida’s economy set to hit a milestone in 2018: a trillion bucks

The University of Florida predicts that the state of Florida will become a trillion-dollar economy in 2018. That’s trillion with a “t” and 12 zeros — a huge milestone for the Sunshine State.

The strong housing industry and hospitality sectors are fueling job growth and contributing to the state’s robust economy. In Southwest Florida, low unemployment rates (4.7 percent in Lee County and 5 percent in Collier) and other positive economic trends make the region an attractive destination for CEOs and site selectors looking for expansion and relocation opportunities.

The Southwest Florida Economic Development Alliance — along with our local partners — is working tirelessly to help promote the region’s strengths to key decision-makers.
