Florida is like the little brother in the family, she is warm, excitable, and the grandparents love them. For years, Florida has enjoyed a decent job market, population growth and tourism. But it is in recent years that the state, especially Miami, has experienced a renaissance. More companies than ever are choosing Florida because of its friendly environment, focus on sustainability and, of course, the beautiful weather. They are now enjoying a lot of outside investment in the area, such as the Marangoni Institute implementing its first U.S. location there. In short, the area is brimming with promise and others are taking note.

Enterprise Florida

One of the ways in which economic growth, infrastructure, and the aforementioned expansion is happening is through a number of public-private partnerships. The most well-known of these is Enterprise Florida, Inc. (also known as EFI) which sits between government leaders and Florida businesses. EFI is known as one of the major economic development organizations operating in Florida. With the goal of expanding and bringing diversity to the state’s economy, EFI strives to provide better employment opportunities by creating jobs for Florida residents. EFI works with several economic development partners throughout the state to ensure that its mission is accomplished. EFI also receives funding from private sector businesses as well as the State of Florida.

EFI’s mission to create jobs for more than 19 million Floridians is a big challenge in itself. To accomplish their goal, they work with corporate decision makers as well as site selectors to help them choose Florida as their choice in the event of relocation, project expansion, or next location. Attracting new businesses to the state can not only help improve the economy, but also expand existing businesses and industries in the state.

Creating opportunities

EFI helps potential market investors see Florida as a land of exciting opportunities with modern design structures, green environments and loyal workers. EFI works with a large number of industries that include: fashion, information technology, defense and homeland security, financial and professional services, life sciences, aviation and aerospace, manufacturing, clean energy and many others. EFI currently supports over 60,000 XNUMX export businesses in Florida. EFI also supports a variety of businesses, including small and minority businesses, through a number of programs it operates. One of EFI’s primary responsibilities is to market and promote Florida as a major business destination.

Enterprise Florida is committed to accountability and transparency when it comes to economic development incentives. The enormous responsibility that EFI has taken on to strengthen Florida’s economic development is a big one, and EFI has carried out this responsibility with great enthusiasm and success in recent years.

The Chairman of EFI’s Board of Directors is none other than while EFI’s CEO and President is Florida’s Secretary of Commerce.

Florida’s economy has passed $1 trillion, meaning that if the Sunshine State were a stand-alone state, it would have the 17th largest economy in the world.

A press release from the Florida Chamber Foundation (Florida Chamber Foundation) reports that the state’s gross domestic product (GDP) is growing at about $2.74 billion per day and outpacing the GDP of countries such as Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Argentina and the Netherlands.

“Becoming a $1 trillion economy means Florida continues to grow and create jobs, keeping unemployment below the national average and creating economic opportunity,” said Jerry Parrish, chief economist for the Florida Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Florida’s economic reports over the past year have been positive. The state’s unemployment rate remained at 3.9 percent and fell to 3.8 percent in May. According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the state added 180,200 jobs during the year.

Even though the state’s economy has surpassed $1 trillion, there is still plenty of room for growth. Wage levels have long been noted by economists as one area of Florida’s economy – and the national economy – that needs attention to continue economic development.
